Macedonian embroidery

It’s crazy to me that every woman knew how to create something like this 70-80 years ago.

The above is Macedonian traditional embroidery. Inspired by Byzantine and Persian fashion style, women in the Balkans developed their own garment decorations.

Red always is the most dominant colour probably due to available materials but I like to think it symbolises blood - for all the wars these women had to live through.
